Position Type: Student Support Services/Speech and Language Pathologist Date Posted: 7/2/2025 Location: Regano Early Learning Center SOLON CITY SCHOOLS POSITION DESCRIPTION POSITION: Speech/Language Therapist - Preschool Program POSITION TYPE: Certified QUALIFICATIONS: Speech Language Pathology Licensure through the Ohio Board of Speech Language Hearing Association Certificate of Clinical Competence through the American Speech Language Hearing Association Experience with students with moderate to severe disabilities preferred Pupil Services License through the Ohio Department of Education A Bachelor's Degree (or higher) from an accredited college or university with specific emphasis in education and speech/language therapy. Demonstrated skill in writing and oral communication. Demonstrated successful experience as a speech/language therapist. Ability to establish positive relationships with staff, students and parents. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable. CONTRACT WORK DAYS: Days/hours to be determined by preschool grant monies. RESPONSIBLE TO: Coordinator of Pupil Services GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Help reduce or eliminate speech, language and hearing deficits that interfere with the individual student's ability to derive full benefit from the district's educational program. SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assessment/evaluation of referred preschool children with suspected hearing/language/speech handicaps to determine eligibility for special education services. Direct services may be provided to individuals or small groups. An IEP will be developed for each student along with following all other due process procedures. Develop parental home instruction programs for identified eligible children with language/speech/hearing handicaps along with monitoring, follow-up and annual review. Serves as a member of IAT when appropriate. Serves as a member of the IEP team as appropriate. Serves as a liaison between Solon City Schools and existing preschool/day care programs where Solon students are enrolled. Conducts screening programs at local preschool/day care centers for Solon resident children. Provide in-service programs for preschool personnel, parents, community groups, physicians regarding services available and developmental speech/language norms. Refer clients to appropriate professional services when necessary, e.g., audiological evaluations, educational placements. Develop any informational materials, brochures, pamphlets to be distributed to Solon preschool parents. Provides information, support and counseling to parents and families when appropriate. Maintain a log of activities, contacts, students and submit monthly to Coordinator of Special Services. Gives input regarding needed materials for budget preparation. Participate with special service staff in staff meetings as needed. Perform such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as the Coordinator of Pupil Services may assign.
