Travel Respiratory Therapist

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist with at least 2 years of critical care experience and strong nursery and transport skills for a variable shift hospital assignment.

Responsibilities
  • Position is based in a 35-bed acute care hospital respiratory care department
  • Works with patient populations from neonate to geriatric, including pediatric and neonatal critical care, adult ICU, emergency department, and general respiratory cases
  • Attends C-sections, performs EKGs, and assists with ambulance transport for ventilated or respiratory compromised patients
  • Uses ventilators such as Hamilton T1 and C1 for adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients, as well as ResMed APAP/CPAP/Bi-level, Airvo2 high flow devices, Cough Assist, and bedside PFT equipment
  • Uses Epic EMR and Omnicell (Epic experience required)
  • 12-hour variable shifts (primarily nights); alternates between four and three shifts per week per pay period
  • Weekend rotation every other weekend
  • Possible call requirements depending on staffing during contract
  • RT coverage throughout the hospital and emergency department; no floating to other facilities unless specifically hired for that
  • Will attend high-risk deliveries and care for a diverse, acute patient population
  • Works closely with physicians, nurse managers, RT director (available by phone), and a multidisciplinary care team
  • Comprehensive orientation provided by the hospital's respiratory care department
  • Holiday coverage required for holidays falling within the contract
  • Scrub color is pewter
  • Free parking available on site
  • 100 mile radius rule in effect; local travelers not eligible
  • Traveler-friendly environment with a history of contract renewals possible
  • Time off requests subject to manager approval
Requirements
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification required
  • South Dakota RCP license required if applicable (must be obtained prior to consideration; typically takes 30 days)
  • Associate degree (AA) required
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in respiratory care, including critical care, nursery, and high-risk delivery
  • Experience with ground transport of ventilated patients required
  • Certification in BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP required
  • Comfort performing EKGs
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • First-time travelers considered upon manager review with strong experience
