Physical Therapist - IDD / School-Based
A highly respected and mission-driven nonprofit organization is seeking a Physical Therapist to join their multidisciplinary team supporting children and young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This is a full-time opportunity located on a scenic residential campus, working within a specialized day school serving students ages 6 to 22 with autism and related challenges.
About the Role:
In this role, the Physical Therapist will provide clinical physical therapy services across school-based programs. You'll be part of a collaborative team committed to ensuring safety, functional independence, and physical well-being for each student. The ideal candidate is experienced, compassionate, and comfortable working in an educational setting with individuals who may present with complex physical, behavioral, or developmental needs.
Schedule:
Monday to Friday
7:30 AM - 4:00 PM
Includes three annual program breaks: one week in April (MA spring break), one week in December, and the week of July 4th
Responsibilities:
Deliver direct physical therapy services and consultative support as part of a coordinated treatment plan
Develop and implement individualized programs focused on mobility, motor skills, and physical safety
Support students who may demonstrate aggressive or self-injurious behaviors
Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and clinical staff to ensure comprehensive, high-quality care
Maintain documentation and contribute to IEP meetings and progress updates
Qualifications:
Doctorate in Physical Therapy from an accredited program
Active Physical Therapy license in Massachusetts (or eligibility)
Minimum of 2 years of experience preferred; New graduates will be considered
Passion for working with individuals with autism and developmental disabilities
