Description

  • Conduct evaluations for patients spanning pediatric, adult, and geriatric demographics through standard assessments and keen observational skills.
  • Craft individualized treatment strategies tailored to short and long-term communication, cognitive, or swallowing objectives.
  • Implement direct speech therapy sessions concentrating on communication, language articulation, fluency, voice modulation, and swallowing techniques.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including physical and occupational therapists, nurses, and physicians, to create integrated care plans.
  • Educate patients and families on progress and techniques they can practice outside sessions to enhance outcomes.
  • Occasionally perform inpatient evaluations and interventions to ensure seamless continuity of therapy.
  • Document patient progress and treatment plans in compliance with all state, federal, and institutional standards.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development through continuing education opportunities and peer exchanges.

Education

  • Masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology from a certified institution.
  • A Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) is required if ASHA certification is not yet attained.

Certifications

  • Current state licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist .
  • Preferred: Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA.
  • A Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within the first month of employment.
