Description: The Steamboat Springs School District is seeking a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst to provide specialized expertise to define and characterize behaviors, select and evaluate interventions and strategies, display and interpret behavioral data, and monitor behaviors changed. This is a district-wide position requiring travel between all schools and is a Part Time position, approx. 15 hours per week/ days of service to start August 11, 2025.

Position Summary: Physical therapists work as part of a team including special and general educators, parents and
community resources to provide physical therapy (PT) services to students in the school environment. Services may
be delivered directly to the child or on behalf of the child (consultation with parents and teachers). School-Based
Physical Therapist (PT) plays a crucial role in supporting students with disabilities and serious health impairments,
ensuring they can fully access and participate in their educational environment. School-based PT primarily addresses
physical challenges that may hinder a student's academic performance and participation
Professional Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive assessments to evaluate student physical abilities, needs, and functional limitations within the school setting.
Interpret evaluation results and communicate findings to parents, teachers, and other team members.
Synthesize evaluation results into written reports that guide intervention planning.
Develop and implement individualized physical therapy treatment plans (IEPs) tailored to students educational needs.
Provide direct and indirect physical therapy interventions, including therapeutic exercises, functional training, and activities to improve motor skills, posture, movement, and mobility.
Recommend and provide assistive devices and adaptive equipment to promote student mobility and safety.
Collaborate with teachers, parents, special education personnel, and other related service providers (e.g., occupational therapists, speech therapists) to integrate therapy goals into the classroom and overall school environment.
Consult with and train school staff (teachers, paraprofessionals) and families on implementing therapeutic strategies, using equipment, and modifying the environment to support student needs.
Participate in team meetings (IEP meetings, problem-solving meetings) to review student progress and adapt intervention plans as needed.
Maintain accurate and confidential documentation of student progress, therapy sessions, and communication with parents and staff.
Comply with all federal and state regulations, including IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act) and FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act), regarding physical therapy practice in schools.
Assist in adapting and modifying the educational environment (classrooms, playgrounds, bathrooms, etc.) to ensure accessibility and safety for students with physical challenges.
Provide recommendations on selecting, modifying, or customizing adaptive equipment and assistive technology.
Promote safe student transportation, including training staff on proper body mechanics and adaptive equipment use.
Stay abreast of new information, ideas, and techniques in the field to ensure best practice.
Consultation or Indirect service may include any of the following:
Consultation with the special education team or general education teachers or other school staff
Consultation with the student's parents or caregiver
Consultation with the student
Consultation with medical providers (with parent permission)
Observation of the student in various settings (both academic & natural)
Creating materials
Adjusting or modifying adaptive equipment
Attending meetings concerning the student (i.e. IEP, transition etc)
Direct & indirect intervention services may occur: within the general education classroom, out of the general
classroom, in specials or encore, in the lunch room, on the playground or any other academic natural environment
QUALIFICATIONS:
Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree from a program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE).
Experience working with pediatric populations, particularly within K-12 educational settings, is preferred.
Valid Colorado special service provider license in Physical Therapy; DORA PT license
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with students, families, and school staff.
Ability to evaluate and plan for physical therapy intervention in the school setting.
Skills in selecting and providing a wide range of intervention strategies and monitoring their effectiveness.
Knowledge of school-based therapy protocols, IDEA regulations, and individualized education plans (IEPs).
Ability to manage a caseload and maintain detailed records.
Ability to be flexible and adapt to the changing needs of a diverse student body.
Ability to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or persons.
Ability to drive between schools in the district.
Ability to work in noisy, crowded environments.
Computer knowledge is required in computer-related subjects, and computer literacy
Ability to maintain individual student records and class files.
Ability to compile statistics for research and reports.
