Founded in 2001, LEARN is a non profit network of PK-8th grade elementary schools that is creating measurable, transformational change in the lives of its students. We currently educate 4,100 students, a majority low-income, minority student population (88% and 98%, respectively), across 11 campuses across Chicago, Lake County, and Washington D.C.

Our schools provide a rigorous educational program that is built upon an intimate understanding of each student's individual learning style and academic needs. What You'll Do:

Learn Charter School is looking for a dynamic Part Time Occupational Therapist who will collaborate with case managers, school counselors/social workers, teachers, school leaders and others in identifying/meeting the physical needs of students. You will oversee our three campuses in North Chicago/Waukegan area.

Key Responsibilities include but not limited to :

Using current occupational therapy principles, and LEARN Network guidelines/protocols and best practices, provide direct and consult occupational therapy services to students in a K-8th grade school setting as indicated in student plans such as IEP/504/MTSS/health plans.

Ensure 100% compliance as required by ISBE/authorizing district/Network as it relates to physical therapy in the school setting (including, but not limited to, meeting compliance timelines and service delivery).

Provide a thorough assessment and identification of occupational therapy needs (i.e motor, sensory), and utilize data to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), 504, MTSS, and/or health plans.

Create an individualized therapy program for students, sharing with classroom teachers and families.

Use various strategies and best practices to help students increase strength and dexterity and provide access to the educational setting.

Keep on-going and detailed records of services provided

Keep ongoing and detailed records of student progress throughout the year, including qualitative and quantitative data related students' response to interventions and services, and the use of data to inform evidence based decisions

Keep abreast of current research and practices in occupational therapy and provide Professional development/training related to occupational therapy in the school setting to individual student, school, or network teams as appropriate/requested

Support Network initiatives in the development and implementation of wellness programs through the lens of a school based occupational therapist

Attend required meetings and be a contributing participant of the OT/PT/ School/ SSS teams

Other duties as assigned within the scope occupational therapy and as a member of the SSS individual Student, School and Network teams

What You'll Need

This is a great fit if you:

Have a Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy or related field from an accredited college or university.

Have Three (3) years prior experience providing the service required by this position, including at least three years of experience working within a school setting.

Hold a license from the State to provide services as an occupational therapist and Registered with the Illinois Department of Financial Professional Regulations ( IDFPR)

Knowledge of applicable federal and state statutes dealing with privacy, care and protection abuse.

Ability to make referrals to appropriate staff members and other agencies and organizations.

Physical Demands/Travel

Requires the ability to communicate and exchange information, collect, compile and prepare work documents, set-up and maintain work files. May also be expected to clean and maintain equipment and facilities used by students. Physical demands require the ability to stand, bend, reach high and low, stoop, walk around the classroom and kneel. May be required to travel to LEARN campuses across the state, as needed.

Working Conditions:

School staff will be working in a busy and occasionally noisy environment. There may be a number of activities and situations happening at once. Majority of work will be performed in a general office/ school environment. May requires participation and attendance at organization sponsored events and meetings.
