Pelvic Health Physical Therapy (PHPT) helps manage pelvic health issues of a variety of conditions. Serves as the subject mter expert for PHPT, consultant to physical therapy (PT) and other medical center staff in evaluing and treing pients in this focus area. Evalues, plans trement program on an individual basis for pients referred with levels of function ranging from simple to the most complex using evidenced based PT practice. Established trement procedures are not always applicable and, times, must be substantially adapted and applied with critical concern for pients who are acutely ill, or who have a combinion of severe mental or physical disabilities with secondary complicions. Trement plans require frequent modificion in response to subtle but significant changes in the condition of the pient. The employment of innovive trement techniques is often necessary to obtain the best medical/surgical outcome. Flexibility of schedule must be maintained to allow for unscheduled pients and for mentoring and consultion; evaluions include a medical history, results and interpretion of the approprie tests and measurements performed. Tests may need to be adapted because of multiple physical and emotional impairments.
Major Duties include but are not limited to:
Involve the pient, family, significant others, and pertinent health care staff in the trement process by ongoing communicion through demonstrion, instruction, team conferences, and chart documention as approprie to each pient's trement goals.
Assesses pient's learning needs, and plans and implements approprie pient educion programs, involving the pient, family, and significant others in the instructional process.
Functions as a mentor in a wide variety of medical conditions and provides specific instruction and/or training to students and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
Provides instruction to pient and family in these areas as approprie to their roles and level of understanding.
Exercises originality in solving problems not covered by theses guides, making modificions of trement plans and procedures to meet the varying needs of pients.
Responsible for the care and sanition of equipment.
Evalues and assesses pients, as assigned, to determine the trement course to be followed.
Performs tests and measurements of muscles, nerves, range of motion, posture, strength, ambulion, circulory, and respirory stus using various mechanical and electrical means.
Performs and interprets results of tests and measurement of the pient's condition for use in preparing and trement plan, modifying trement, and evaluing results of trement.
Participes in multidisciplinary clinic rounds, as needed, which includes providing informion on pient assessment/progress, and informion regarding physical therapy management of pients.
Regularly tends continuing educion programs on issues pertaining to Pelvic Health, the evaluion and trement of reled diagnoses, both acute and chronic.
Serves as a subject mter expert regarding pelvic health concerns to all stakeholders.
Provides formal and informal instruction as needed as it reles to pelvic health.
Responsible for development and maintenance of Physical Therapy trement protocols reled to Pelvic Health programs.

Basic Requirements :

Educion and/or Experience. The individual must meet least one of the following requirements below:
Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy AND five (5) years of progressively independent experience as a physical therapist. -OR-
Master's Degree in Physical Therapy AND two (2) years of progressively independent experience as a physical therapist. -OR-
Doctore degree in Physical Therapy.
PLEASE NOTE : Individuals must be a gradue of a Commission on Accredition in Physical Therapy Educion (CAPTE) accredited college or university.
Foreign Gradues - Gradues of foreign physical therapy programs meet the requirements if they have a current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice physical therapy in a Ste, Territory or Commonwealth of the United Stes, or in the District of Columbia.
Ste Licensure . Candides must possess a full, current, and unrestricted ste license to practice physical therapy in a ste, territory or Commonwealth of the United Stes (i.e. Puerto Rico), or in the District of Columbia.
English Language Proficiency. Individuals appointed under authority of 38 U.S.C. chapters 73 or 74, to serve in a direct pient-care capacity in VHA must be proficient in written and spoken English
May qualify based on being covered by the Grandfhering Provision as described in the VA Qualificion Standard for this occupion (only applicable to current VHA employees who are in this occupion and meet the criteria).
Grandfhering Provision. All licensed PTs employed in VHA on the effective de of this qualificion standard are considered to have met all qualificion requirements for the title, series and grade held, including positive educion and licensure th are part of the basic requirements of the occupion. For employees who do not meet all the basic requirements required in this standard, but who met the qualificions applicable to the position the time they were appointed to it, the following provisions apply:
Employees grandfhered into the GS-0633 occupional series as PTs may be reassigned, promoted up to and including the full performance (journey) level, or changed to lower grade within the occupion.
PTs who are appointed on a temporary basis prior to the effective de of this qualificion standard may not have their temporary appointment extended or be reappointed on a temporary or permanent basis until they fully meet the basic requirements of this standard.
PTs initially grandfhered into this occupion, who subsequently obtain additional educion and/or licensure/certificion/registrion, meet all the basic requirements of this qualificion standard and must maintain the required credentials as a condition of employment in the occupion.
If PTs who are grandfhered under this provision leave the occupion, the employee loses protected stus and must meet the full VA qualificion standard requirements in effect the time of reentry to the occupion.
Physical Therapist GS-13 Grade Determinions :
Specialized Experience.
In addition to meeting the basic requirements, one year of progressively complex experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level and one of the following:
Evidence of a minimum of 2,000 hours of clinical practice directly in the specialty area. This time must be between the past two and five years; or
Board Certificion in the specialty area recognized by the ABPTS; or
Completion of a fellowship program; or
An additional advanced degree in a reled field. In addition, the candide must demonstre the following KSAs.
Demonstred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Advanced knowledge and expert skill in a range of specialized interventions and trement modalities used in a specialized trement area of physical therapy.
Ability to serve as a consultant and subject mter expert for health care providers regarding the delivery of care within a specialized content area of physical therapy.
Ability to teach and mentor medical center staff in a specialized content area of physical therapy.
Ability to guide the work of a multi-disciplinary team in a specialized content area of physical therapy.
Advanced knowledge and expert skill to perform and interpret specialized procedures and tests in evaluing the trement outcomes in the assigned specialty content area.
Preferred Experience: Pelvic Health Rehabilition Training.

This position splits time between the Nashville campus and the Clarksville CBOC. Traveling between the campuses required of the position.
VA Careers - Physical Therapy :
Pelvic Health Physical Therapy (PHPT) helps manage pelvic health issues of a variety of conditions. Serves as the subject mter expert for PHPT, consultant to physical therapy (PT) and other medical center staff in evaluing and treing pients in this focus area. Evalues, plans trement program on an individual basis for pients referred with levels of function ranging from simple to the most complex using evidenced based PT practice. Established trement procedures are not always applicable and, times, must be substantially adapted and applied with critical concern for pients who are acutely ill, or who have a combinion of severe mental or physical disabilities with secondary complicions. Trement plans require frequent modificion in response to subtle but significant changes in the condition of the pient. The employment of innovive trement techniques is often necessary to obtain the best medical/surgical outcome. Flexibility of schedule must be maintained to allow for unscheduled pients and for mentoring and consultion; evaluions include a medical history, results and interpretion of the approprie tests and measurements performed. Tests may need to be adapted because of multiple physical and emotional impairments.
Major Duties include but are not limited to:
Involve the pient, family, significant others, and pertinent health care staff in the trement process by ongoing communicion through demonstrion, instruction, team conferences, and chart documention as approprie to each pient's trement goals.
Assesses pient's learning needs, and plans and implements approprie pient educion programs, involving the pient, family, and significant others in the instructional process.
Functions as a mentor in a wide variety of medical conditions and provides specific instruction and/or training to students and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
Provides instruction to pient and family in these areas as approprie to their roles and level of understanding.
Exercises originality in solving problems not covered by theses guides, making modificions of trement plans and procedures to meet the varying needs of pients.
Responsible for the care and sanition of equipment.
Evalues and assesses pients, as assigned, to determine the trement course to be followed.
Performs tests and measurements of muscles, nerves, range of motion, posture, strength, ambulion, circulory, and respirory stus using various mechanical and electrical means.
Performs and interprets results of tests and measurement of the pient's condition for use in preparing and trement plan, modifying trement, and evaluing results of trement.
Participes in multidisciplinary clinic rounds, as needed, which includes providing informion on pient assessment/progress, and informion regarding physical therapy management of pients.
Regularly tends continuing educion programs on issues pertaining to Pelvic Health, the evaluion and trement of reled diagnoses, both acute and chronic.
Serves as a subject mter expert regarding pelvic health concerns to all stakeholders.
Provides formal and informal instruction as needed as it reles to pelvic health.
Responsible for development and maintenance of Physical Therapy trement protocols reled to Pelvic Health programs.

Basic Requirements :
United Stes Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
Educion and/or Experience. The individual must meet least one of the following requirements below:
Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy AND five (5) years of progressively independent experience as a physical therapist. -OR-
Master's Degree in Physical Therapy AND two (2) years of progressively independent experience as a physical therapist. -OR-
Doctore degree in Physical Therapy.
PLEASE NOTE : Individuals must be a gradue of a Commission on Accredition in Physical Therapy Educion (CAPTE) accredited college or university.
Foreign Gradues - Gradues of foreign physical therapy programs meet the requirements if they have a current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice physical therapy in a Ste, Territory or Commonwealth of the United Stes, or in the District of Columbia.
Ste Licensure . Candides must possess a full, current, and unrestricted ste license to practice physical therapy in a ste, territory or Commonwealth of the United Stes (i.e. Puerto Rico), or in the District of Columbia.
English Language Proficiency. Individuals appointed under authority of 38 U.S.C. chapters 73 or 74, to serve in a direct pient-care capacity in VHA must be proficient in written and spoken English
May qualify based on being covered by the Grandfhering Provision as described in the VA Qualificion Standard for this occupion (only applicable to current VHA employees who are in this occupion and meet the criteria).
Grandfhering Provision. All licensed PTs employed in VHA on the effective de of this qualificion standard are considered to have met all qualificion requirements for the title, series and grade held, including positive educion and licensure th are part of the basic requirements of the occupion. For employees who do not meet all the basic requirements required in this standard, but who met the qualificions applicable to the position the time they were appointed to it, the following provisions apply:
Employees grandfhered into the GS-0633 occupional series as PTs may be reassigned, promoted up to and including the full performance (journey) level, or changed to lower grade within the occupion.
PTs who are appointed on a temporary basis prior to the effective de of this qualificion standard may not have their temporary appointment extended or be reappointed on a temporary or permanent basis until they fully meet the basic requirements of this standard.
PTs initially grandfhered into this occupion, who subsequently obtain additional educion and/or licensure/certificion/registrion, meet all the basic requirements of this qualificion standard and must maintain the required credentials as a condition of employment in the occupion.
If PTs who are grandfhered under this provision leave the occupion, the employee loses protected stus and must meet the full VA qualificion standard requirements in effect the time of reentry to the occupion.
Physical Therapist GS-13 Grade Determinions :
Specialized Experience.
In addition to meeting the basic requirements, one year of progressively complex experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level and one of the following:
Evidence of a minimum of 2,000 hours of clinical practice directly in the specialty area. This time must be between the past two and five years; or
Board Certificion in the specialty area recognized by the ABPTS; or
Completion of a fellowship program; or
An additional advanced degree in a reled field. In addition, the candide must demonstre the following KSAs.
Demonstred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Advanced knowledge and expert skill in a range of specialized interventions and trement modalities used in a specialized trement area of physical therapy.
Ability to serve as a consultant and subject mter expert for health care providers regarding the delivery of care within a specialized content area of physical therapy.
Ability to teach and mentor medical center staff in a specialized content area of physical therapy.
Ability to guide the work of a multi-disciplinary team in a specialized content area of physical therapy.
Advanced knowledge and expert skill to perform and interpret specialized procedures and tests in evaluing the trement outcomes in the assigned specialty content area.
Preferred Experience: Pelvic Health Rehabilition Training.
