The duties include but are not limited to:

Provides screening of students to determine if occupational therapy services may be needed.

Assesses identified students to determine specific therapy needs.

Manages the treatment plan for the individual students.

Provides consultation with school personnel, as well as parents regarding treatment plan, progress and prognosis.

Communicates with physicians regarding treatment plan, progress and prognosis.

Supervises occupational therapy assistants and trained aides in their therapy activities with the student.

Serves as a member of the IEP team.

Apprises supervisor of activities and needs for efficient functioning of personnel.

Keeps appropriate records on the individual student, as well as compiled reports and submits them in a timely manner to the appropriate person.

Accepts and carries out special assignments relative to the program.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have graduated from an accredited occupational therapy program and be certified to practice in the state.

At least one (1) year of on-the-job experience under the direct supervision of a Certified Occupational Therapist with expertise in pediatric therapy is preferred.

Must have participated in or be willing to participate in continuing education related to occupational therapy in the educational setting.
