POSITION: Occupational Therapist - Districtwide

REPORTS TO: OT/PT Supervisor

PRIMARY FUNCTION: Responsible for providing occupational therapy services to students referred through the educational process.

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Observe, evaluate, and assess students referred for occupational therapy as it relates to their educational needs.

Serve as member of the IEP team in evaluating, reviewing, placing, or developing Individual Education Programs (IEP) for children in compliance with state and federal laws.

Develop curriculum based Individual Education Plans (IEP) and carry out programs for children diagnosed as needing occupational therapy.

Implement occupational therapy as defined in the IEP or 504 Accommodations.

Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with the Hartford Board of Education.

Report progress to parents on an ongoing basis and in compliance with state and federal regulations. Confer with parents of children receiving occupational therapy outside of the PPT meetings when warranted.

To refer as appropriate to other school personnel and/or outside agencies.

Attend monthly departmental staff meeting, and in-service programs as determined by contract.

Complete Student Based Healthcare Services (SBCHS) forms accurately and within designated time frames.

Perform other duties that are assigned by supervisor.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy.

Experience working with children/youth in school or community health programs.

Credentialed by the American Occupational Therapy Association.

CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Registered Certified/Licensed Occupational Therapist

SALARY AND TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary in accordance with Hartford Federation of School Health Professionals Appendix A, (2024-2025) Salary Schedule 5B: ($54,400-$80,288) 10-month work year.
