- JOB SUMMARY
- Specializes in diagnosis and treatment of speech, language and voice problems as related to human communication, as well as the diagnosis and treatment of dysphagia.
- DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Overall performance rating of below indicated essential job duties:
- Performs evaluation on patients referred in a timely manner and formulates diagnoses based on assessment findings.
- Establishes individualized treatment plan and goals based on diagnostic testing.
- Provides treatment for those communication areas found to have deficit during the evaluation.
- Completes documentation according to practice setting guidelines.
- Collaborates with other members of the healthcare team to identify needs and continued services once discharged from current level of care.
- EDUCATION/LICENSE/ CERTIFICATIONS/OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum requirement:
- Master’s Degree in the field of Speech/Language Pathology
- Maintains active ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) in Speech Language Pathology, or in Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY).
- Current active Speech Pathology license in the State of Kentucky and other states as required.
- Achieves and maintains American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)

- WORKING ENVIRONMENT
- Occasionally works near moving mechanical parts.
- Frequentlyexposed to blood and/or body fluids and infection.
- Occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals.
- Occasionally exposed to risk of radiation.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually low to low.
- PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Frequently required to maintain in a stationary position (standing or sitting)
- Constantly required to walk and move about around the Medical Center
- Frequently required to operate a computer and other equipment.
- Frequently required to use fine motor skills to handle and operate instruments/devices
- Frequently required to position self in order to meet patient needs including stooping and crouching.
- Constantly required to lift and/or move items up to 10 pounds.
- Frequently required to lift and/or move items up to 15 pounds.
- Occasionally required to lift and/or move items up to 25 pounds.
- Constantly required to communicate with patients and other care team requiring talking and hearing.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
