Position Summary: Under the supervision of the Activities Director, the Rehab Therapist provides clinical and rehabilitation services to adults with psychiatric disabilities in the Willow MHRC program. In collaboration with a multidisciplinary treatment team the Rehab Therapist assists in the development and implementation of treatment goals, performing rehab assessments, individual and group therapy; is an advocate for clients; provides crisis prevention and intervention when necessary; and helps plan a program including the utilization of community resources to enhance the individuals quality of life.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Complete comprehensive clinical rehab assessments as assigned.
  • Conduct individual and group therapy to assigned clients utilizing evidence-based practices.
  • Provide crisis intervention, as needed, for adults residing in the program.
  • Facilitate psychoeducational groups utilizing evidence-based practices.
  • Contribute to the development of individual treatment and behavior plans.
  • Provide support to Activities Director with training and supervising of Rehab Activity Leaders as assigned.
  • Attend multidisciplinary team meetings as assigned.
  • Develop and maintain a respectful, caring, tolerant, ethical, and empowering relationship with all individuals served.
  • Maintain a client caseload as assigned.
  • Document in a timely manner treatment planning, weekly progress notes, assessments, and interventions according to agency, county, and Medi-Cal billing and quality assurance requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with clients Willow treatment team and program leadership.
  • In collaboration with multidisciplinary team participate in weekly case conferences and treatment team meetings for all Willow clients
  • Perform all job functions in cooperation with the supervisor, other staff on the team, and other clinical staff, including sharing information regarding all important interventions.
  • Participate in staff meetings and attend in-service trainings, as assigned.
  • Attend and participate in regularly scheduled clinical supervision sessions.
  • Attend and complete trainings as assigned and in a timely manner.
  • Drive agency vehicle to client outings, as required; documenting and reporting mileage according to agency procedures, so that services can be provided in a timely manner; always comply with agency vehicle policy.
  • Participate in promoting a safe, healthy, and clean working environment always consistent with applicable laws, industry standards and the agencys own Health & Safety Program.
  • Complete and submit accurate time sheets and absence reports to program management in a timely manner.
  • Promote within the agency and with the public the philosophy and practice of social rehabilitation.

Qualifications, Skills & Abilities:

  • Must be passionate about Caminar mission.
  • BA in Psychology, Social Sciences, Recreation Therapy or Expressive Arts Therapy is required. MA/MS in mental health/social work-related field strongly preferred. Registration with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) (AMFT, ASW, APCC etc.) is preferred. Must have a minimum of two (2) years of full-time experience, or its part-time equivalent, working in a mental health program serving persons with severe and persistent mental disabilities. Such experience shall be in the direct provision of services to a program's identified clients or residents. A bachelors degree with a major in psychology, social work or behavioral sciences may be substituted for the two (2) years of full-time work experience or its part-time equivalent.
  • Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment including email and Internet navigation required. Experience with Human Service Information Systems strongly preferred. Experience with web-based time and attendance and staff training and development system strongly preferred.

Physical, Environmental and Mental Requirements:

  • Physical: Occasionally required to push/pull objects up to 15 lbs., and to lift/carry objects up to 25 lbs. Frequently required to perform moderately difficult manipulative tasks such as typing, writing, etc. Must be able to walk, stand, sit for extended periods.
  • Sensory: Frequently required to read documents, written reports, and plans. Must be able to distinguish normal sounds with some background noise, as in answering the phone, interacting with clients and staff, etc.
  • Cognitive: Frequently required to concentrate on moderate detail with constant interruption. Must be able to attend to a task/function for 20-45 minutes at a time. Frequently required to understand and relate to specific ideas, several at a time. Must be able to remember multiple tasks/assignments given to self and others over a period of several days.
  • Environmental Conditions: Frequent exposure to varied office and mixed (residential/office) environments
  • Equipment: Frequently required to use a computer, phone, and fax machine.

Special Requirements:

  • Must be able to meet and receive a criminal records clearance, as required by California Code, Welfare and Institutions Code - WIC 5405 and Caminar practices.
  • This position may require driving. A valid California driver license, reliable personal vehicle, current personal auto insurance as required by law, and an MVR sufficient to obtain and reasonably maintain insurability under agency auto liability policies are all essential job requirements.
  • Must be able to pass post offer, pre-employment medical and drug tests as required under State regulations and/or agency policies required to obtain and maintain First Aid and CPR certification.
