REPORTS TO:School Principal and Director of Pupil Personnel Services

JOB GOAL:Speech and Language Therapists work to prevent, assess, diagnose and treat speech, language, social communication, and swallowing disorders.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:1) Master's degree in speech language pathology or related field2) 1-3 years of speech language pathology experience3) Active state SLP license4) ASHA certification preferred

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:1) Provides appropriate individualized programs of therapy to meet individual student's needs to facilitate the development of appropriate speech and language skills.2) Establish and maintain a positive climate for learning.3) Sets high expectations for student achievement and behavior.4) Conducts speech and language screenings and diagnostic evaluations to determine the need for services.5) Monitors student progress and makes informed, timely decisions regarding student performance.6) Reports student progress to families and school personnel.7) Participates as a team member in the evaluation, review, and reevaluation process.8) Participates in the development of student IEPs.9) Provides follow up and consultation based on student IEPs.10) Assists teachers in the development and implementation of curriculum modifications and appropriate classroom strategies.11) Assists the Student Support Team (SST) in assessing speech, voice, hearing, and language impairments.12) Assists the Student Support Team (SST) in the development of appropriate speech and language services through the district curriculum accommodation plan as an intervention for students.13) Assumes responsibility for requisitioning and maintaining equipment and supplies.14) Maintains appropriate, confidential records and provides timely reports.15) Adheres to all district policies.16) Other duties may be assigned by the Principal or Director of Pupil Personnel.

EVALUATION:Performance of this job will be evaluated annually, in accordance with accepted district guidelines/procedures in alignment with state mandates and expectations.

Terms Of Employment: 182 days per year
