Physical Therapist Technician

PURPOSE OF THE JOB: Responsible for courteously greeting patients, visitors and other clients and providing physical therapy care to patients under the supervision of the Physical Therapist.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelors degree preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• CPR certification within six (6) months of hire required.
• Must be trained in patient lifting and positioning techniques upon hire.
• Three years or more experience in a Physical Therapy or Sports/Athletic Department preferred.
• Successful completion of coursework in anatomy, physiology, exercise physiology, kinesiology, biomechanics, biology, physical fitness, and psychology preferred.
• Able to communicate effectively; must present in a professional, courteous, and tactful manner.
• Able to apply the use and care of physical therapy equipment.
• Able to apply practical knowledge of physical therapeutic exercises.
• Able to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Able to respond quickly and efficiently in emergency situations.
• Able to make observations of changes or reactions in patients and accuracy in reporting such observations.
• Able to exercise emotional control and conceal natural aversion for certain patient conditions.
• Able to apply safe work practices on the job.
• Requires ongoing discretion and secure information management; compliance with HIPAA and HITECH regulations.
