Job SummaryAs a Respiratory Therapist, you will plan, implement, and evaluate therapy effectiveness while collaborating closely with providers and interdisciplinary teams. Your compassionate care will help restore pulmonary function, alleviate pain, and support life through various respiratory treatments and equipment management.
Key Responsibilities- Assess and interpret patient evaluations and test results to develop and administer respiratory therapy treatment plans.
- Perform pulmonary function tests and manage therapies such as bronchopulmonary drainage and breathing exercises.
- Monitor patient responses to therapy, including vital signs and blood gas analysis, adjusting treatments as necessary.
- Supervise respiratory therapy aides and technicians, ensuring safe and effective equipment operation.
- Participate in discharge planning by designing home exercise programs and educating patients and caregivers.
- Contribute to departmental policy development, training programs, and workflow coordination.
- Associate degree from a CoARC-accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
- Minimum of two years of acute care respiratory therapy experience.
- Current, unrestricted state respiratory care practitioner license.
- National Board for Respiratory Care Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) upon hire; Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) within one year.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification within six months of hire.
- Strong knowledge of respiratory care theories and clinical skills.
- Ability to assess patient needs and apply age-specific treatment principles.
- Proficiency with respiratory therapy equipment and home care devices.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with healthcare teams and patients.
- Competence in electronic medical records and Microsoft Office applications.
- Independent judgment, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Ability to lift and carry varying weights, stand, walk, bend, and perform tasks requiring physical activity consistent with respiratory therapy duties.
