Central Maine Medical Center (CMMC) in Lewiston is the flagship facility of Central Maine Healthcare. CMMC is a 250-bed, not-for-profit, Level III Trauma Center, offering comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services to the people of central Maine. CMMC provides 24-hour emergency care, and medically supervised orthopedic rehabilitation programs. Our rehabilitation facilities are part of our all-in-one, single floor orthopedics unit designed to support the initial states of recovery, helping patients get back home and get moving again sooner. Central Maine Healthcare covers all of patients physical and mental health needs.

How you'll contribute

Under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist (OTR/L), the Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) plays a key role in implementing individualized, evidence-based treatment plans for adult and geriatric patients within a medical rehabilitation setting. The COTA assists in patient assessment, delivers therapeutic interventions, and monitors progress toward functional goals, providing timely feedback and recommendations to the supervising therapist. This position involves maintaining accurate documentation in accordance with hospital policies and state regulations, collaborating with interdisciplinary team members, and ensuring quality care. The COTA may also assume leadership responsibilities, including supervising support staff, orienting new team members, and covering duties in the absence of the supervising therapist when qualified. Pain assessment and appropriate intervention are integral aspects of the role to support optimal patient outcomes.

What we're looking for

  • Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) State Licensure/Certification
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through American Heart Association
  • Previous experience in all aspects of occupational therapy preferred but not required
  • Effective oral and written communication skills in English with additional languages preferred
