Position Summary
The Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) will provide high-quality speech and language services to students in grades K–12 in alignment with LLCA’s mission. The SLP will assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, and communication disorders, collaborate with teachers and parents, and contribute to fostering students’ ability to think critically, communicate effectively, and engage in their communities with confidence and virtue.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assessment & Diagnosis

    • Conduct comprehensive evaluations of students’ speech, language, and communication abilities.

    • Analyze assessment data to determine eligibility for speech and language services under IDEA and NC state guidelines.

  • Therapy & Intervention

    • Develop and implement individualized therapy plans based on student needs.

    • Provide direct and indirect services in individual, small group, and classroom settings.

    • Incorporate evidence-based practices and strategies that support LLCA’s classical education approach, emphasizing clarity, precision, and articulate communication.

  • Collaboration & Support

    • Work closely with general education and special education teachers to integrate speech and language strategies into the classroom environment.

    • Communicate regularly with families to share progress, strategies, and ways to support language development at home.

    • Participate in IEP meetings, providing expertise in goal-setting and progress monitoring.

  • Documentation & Compliance

    • Maintain accurate records of evaluations, therapy sessions, and student progress in compliance with federal, state, and school requirements.

    • Ensure timely completion of all required reports and documentation.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.

  • Current NC licensure in Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) and Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA.

  • Experience in a K–12 educational setting preferred.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a commitment to fostering student growth and virtue.

  • Ability to integrate speech and language goals into a knowledge-rich, classical curriculum.
