This role involves evaluating and treating musculoskeletal, vascular, and neurological conditions with patient-specific therapies. You will provide education and preventative care to patients, their families, healthcare associates, and the broader community. Acting as a vital link between patients, families, physicians, nursing staff, and social services, you will ensure the seamless delivery and coordination of occupational therapy services.
Essential Responsibilities:- Apply clinical expertise and sound judgment to care for patients across all age groups, from pediatric to geriatric, tailoring treatment plans to individual diagnoses.
- Operate therapeutic equipment such as ultrasound, electrical stimulation units, mechanical traction devices, exercise machines, and wound care tools.
- Guide patients in the use of assistive devices, braces, orthotics, prosthetics, and orthopedic equipment.
- Support patients with mobility, strengthening exercises, muscle reeducation, gait training, activities of daily living, and functional training.
- Modify traditional physiotherapeutic techniques for patients who have difficulty understanding verbal instructions or performing exercises independently.
- Maintain thorough documentation of patient care in compliance with accreditation standards and departmental policies.
- Engage in continuous quality improvement initiatives, including peer reviews and patient care evaluations.
- Exemplify excellent communication and customer service skills with patients, families, and colleagues.
- Collaborate effectively across departments to enhance patient care and support organizational goals.
- Supervise aides, students, and volunteers as needed.
- Assist with departmental duties as assigned by therapy leadership.
- Contribute to staff education by providing training and staying current with professional development.
- Graduation from an accredited Physical, Occupational, or Speech Therapy program recognized by the American Physical Therapy Association, American Occupational Therapy Association, or American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
- Completion of continuing education relevant to clinical practice and professional responsibilities.
- Active involvement in professional organizations at local, state, and national levels as appropriate.
- Minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree required.
- Must hold or be eligible for licensure in the applicable state.
- Current CPR certification required.
