Respiratory Therapist - PAP Specialist

  • Location: Janesville, Wisconsin
  • Schedule: 40 hours/week
  • Status: Full-time benefits eligible

The Respiratory Therapist PAP Specialist provides respiratory therapy services/education to patients/family/caregivers using prescribed medical equipment/supplies such as positive airway pressure, oxygen and other high acuity respiratory equipment used in the home. Monitors patient compliance to assure reimbursement for equipment/supplies. Services can be provided at one of the Mercyhealth at Home DME locations or patient's home.

Job Duties:

  • Assesses respiratory patients' needs and establishes care plans based on patient evaluation.

  • Setup and provide education/instruction on safe use of respiratory equipment in accordance with written physician prescription and patient evaluation.

  • Monitors patient compliance with services/equipment, following up as necessary with patient and other healthcare providers regarding patient treatment, progress and compliance.

  • Troubleshoots equipment/supply issues to make sure patients equipment operates effectively.

  • Completes the necessary paperwork/documentation and follow-up according to Mercyhealth at Home and Mercyhealth system policy and procedures in a timely and appropriate manner.

  • Verifying/entering patient data including demographics, insurance information.

  • Accurately enters orders to reflect what was given to/picked up from patients.

  • Assists with monitoring inventory levels to ensure appropriate product is readily available

  • Understands insurance coverage criteria for respiratory equipment and services provided.

  • Remains current on new respiratory products/supplies such as CPAP, BiPAP, and cough assists.

  • Can function in an on-call, after hours role to make decisions to resolve customer issues, questions and deliver equipment.

Requirements:

Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program

Minimum of one year of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience

Certified or Registered Respiratory Therapist

Licensed by the State of Wisconsin and/or the State of Illinois

Approved CPR or BLS
