Description

  • Conduct thorough evaluations of patients spanning various age groups, utilizing standardized tests and observation methods to determine needs.
  • Craft individualized treatment plans focusing on immediate objectives as well as long-term communication, cognitive, or swallowing goals.
  • Deliver personalized speech therapy sessions tailored to specific needs related to communication, language acquisition, fluency, voice modulation, and swallowing techniques.
  • Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team, including physical therapists, occupational therapists, nursing staff, physicians, caregivers, and families to formulate integrated care strategies.
  • Provide education to patients and their families to enable progress at home and outside of therapy sessions.
  • Participate in occasional inpatient evaluations and interventions where necessary, ensuring seamless continuity of care throughout the patient's recovery path.
  • Maintain precise and timely documentation according to state and federal regulations, as well as organizational standards.
  • Commit to ongoing professional development, keeping up to date with the latest advancements in the field through continued education and peer engagement.

Education

  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
  • Completion of a Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) is required for those not yet certified by ASHA.

Certifications

  • State licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist is mandatory.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA is highly preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be acquired within the first month of employment.
