Travel Occupational Therapist - Acute Care Hospital

American Traveler is hiring an Occupational Therapist with at least 1 year of acute care experience and a current AL OT license for a high-acuity acute care setting.

Responsibilities
  • Work in an acute care setting handling very high acuity and complex patient cases, including post-cardiac, orthopedic, trauma, and stroke patients
  • Day shift schedule typically from 08:00 to 16:30 with occasional weekend shifts depending on departmental needs
  • No floating between facilities is required
  • Cerner EMR is used but previous Cerner experience is not required
  • Work within a multidisciplinary team, often alongside five other OTs
  • Expected to provide therapy across a wide range of complex patient types, including cardiac, orthopedic, trauma, and stroke cases
  • Will work with supervision and daily support from a supervisor, manager, and other therapists
  • Orientation includes a general hospital introduction and Cerner refresher, with about one week before independent caseload
  • Must wear professional scrubs in any color, with matching top and bottomno eccentric colors allowed
  • Free parking is available on-site
  • A 60-mile radius rule applies; local candidates within this radius are not eligible
  • Permanent staff must wait 6 months before being eligible for a travel position
  • COVID vaccine is not required for this position
  • Holiday coverage and time-off requests will depend on department needs
  • First-time travelers are accepted for this position
Requirements
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Current Alabama Occupational Therapist (AL OT) license required if applicable
  • Minimum of 1 year of acute care experience is required
  • Ability to independently evaluate, treat, and manage a complex caseload
  • Team player with demonstrated efficiency, flexibility, and willingness to assist with ADLs
  • Comfortable working in a teaching facility and with students
