Creighton University, a Catholic and Jesuit institution, is actively seeking applications for a full time (12 month) faculty position in our top 10 nationally ranked Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program in Phoenix, Arizona. This position will be at the Assistant or Associate Professor level and will have a Tenure-Track appointment in the Department of Physical Therapy.

Creighton seeks a quality educator who is passionate about advancing the profession of physical therapy through innovation, creativity, and a desire to contribute to the scientific evidence in rehabilitation science. Faculty are responsible for teaching in the DPT curriculum, fulfilling a scholarly agenda, and participating in professional and community-based service.

Creighton's comprehensive Phoenix Health Science Campus includes academic disciplines in medicine, physician assistant, nursing, pharmacy, and occupational therapy. In addition to state-of-the-art facilities, the centrally located midtown Phoenix campus is home to faculty with contemporary expertise and diverse research agendas, including highly competitive grant-based initiatives. We also collaborate closely with colleagues in our sibling Physical Therapy Department Omaha, Nebraska campus.

Teaching & Educational Responsibilities:

Teach courses in the Phoenix DPT curriculum in areas of department need that align with experience/expertise, as agreed upon with the DPT Program Chair. In addition, this position will participate as a guest lecturer, lab assistant and clinical skills/competency evaluator based on expertise. Our priority for this position is for a Faculty Instructor of Record with expertise in the following areas:

Evidence Based Practice I and II: PTD 504 and PTD 514

Motor Control and Motor Learning: PTD 533

Neuroscience: PTD 520

Communicates effectively with Omaha and Phoenix faculty to ensure optimal learning experiences for students

Performs core faculty responsibilities to include teaching, scholarly activities, and service

Qualifications:

Eligible for licensure as a physical therapist in Arizona

An academic doctoral degree (PhD, EdD, DSc, or equivalent; ABD may be considered.

Record of (or emerging potential for) generating grants and peer-reviewed publications is required.

Preference will be given to areas of expertise in neuroscience, motor control, exercise physiology, biomechanics,

pediatrics, and/or pelvic health. Other areas of expertise will also be considered.

Department and University teaching and service expectations are dependent upon applicant experience and background

Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience

Candidate must possess effective communication, organization, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.

Service/Clinical Practice Responsibilities:

Refer to the appropriate rank within the Faculty Handbook. Clinical practice hours to maintain specialty certification are supported as negotiated with the Program Chair, DPT Program.

Scholarship Responsibilities:

Refer to the appropriate rank within the Faculty Handbook. As per CAPTE accreditation standards, core faculty are expected to maintain scholarly activity.
