Description
- Assess patients in pediatric, adult, and geriatric demographics using standardized assessments and observational techniques.
- Craft individualized treatment plans targeting both immediate and long-term communication, cognitive, or swallowing challenges.
- Conduct personalized speech therapy sessions focused on communication skills, language use, fluency, voice modulation, and swallowing issues.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including physical therapists, occupational therapists, nurses, and caregivers, to create comprehensive care strategies.
- Educate patients and families to facilitate progress outside the clinical environment.
- Occasionally participate in inpatient evaluations and interventions to ensure continuity of care throughout the treatment journey.
- Document care accurately and promptly, adhering to all state, federal, and organizational requirements.
- Commit to ongoing education and relationship-building with colleagues to stay current in the field.
Education
- Masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology from a recognized institution.
- Completion of a supervised Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) if not yet certified by ASHA.
Certifications
- Possession of a valid state license as a Speech Language Pathologist .
- Preferred possession of the Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within 30 days of starting employment.
