Speech Language Pathologist (3-5)

Position is Flexible** Part Time (.50 FTE - 1.00 FTE) Position will start as soon as 09/02/2025 Clinic based position - No travel Mentorship, training, and ongoing professional development are available for early-career SLPs and those new to working with young children or augmentative and alternative communication (AAC). JumpStart is Joya Child and Family Development's specialized program serving children ages 3-5 with medically complex needs or developmental delays who are not yet eligible for kindergarten. Our mission is to bridge the gap between early intervention and school readiness by providing individualized, play-based therapy in a supportive, inclusive environment. Through a team-based approach, JumpStart empowers families and prepares children for success in preschool and beyond, emphasizing communication, social-emotional growth, and functional independence. The Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) Speech-language pathologists (SLPs) work to prevent, assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, social communication, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders in children. This position teaches skills and techniques, coaches families including siblings, parents, and other caregivers, carries out and maintains plans of care. Duties and Responsibilities: Use a play-based approach to provide engaging, individualized speech therapy for children, age's 3-5 in an outpatient clinic model. Engage families and caregivers as full participants in the child's therapy program. Use currently accepted, best practice treatment methods and clinical guidelines appropriate for infants and toddlers. Utilize standardized assessment tools to evaluate children with developmental concerns and make appropriate recommendations. Complete accurate electronic documentation. Construct or adapt equipment as needed to facilitate independent play and self-help skills. Maintain a clean and safe environment for children. Supervisory Responsibility: Collaborate with Program Director and JumpStart Clinic Manager to develop Joya's 3-5 program. Required Skills & Abilities: Cultivate positive, supportive, and responsive interactions while encouraging independence. Ability to communicate effectively and make independent Ability to work and collaborate in an team environment effectively. Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information. Knowledge of HIPAA and FERPA requirements/regulations. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Exposure to and interest in ordering, completing justifications for, and using AAC Devices with young children. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and navigating electronic medical records systems. Education, Certifications and Experience Requirements: Master's Degree in Speech-Language Therapy, Communication Disorders, or similar. Current Washington State Speech-Language Pathologist license and the ability to maintain the license. Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). One to two years' experience working with preschool children with developmental disabilities or delays desired. Valid driver's license and vehicle with proof of insurance. Physical and Environmental Factors: Ability to navigate patient care areas regularly. Ability to bend, twist, stoop on a regular Valid driver's license and vehicle with proof of insurance.
