Description
Physical Therapist Assistants (PTA) provide services that help restore function, improve mobility, relieve pain
and prevent permanent physical disabilities of patients experiencing surgical recovery, injury or disease.
The PTA works to restore, maintain, and promote overall fitness and health. Their patients include post-op surgical patients, patients recovery from injury or others with physical challenges that can be improved through services of the PTA in their home. They are responsible for following directive therapy plans prepared by the Physical Therapist, modifying and administering physical therapy modalities of treatment as supervised by the Physical Therapist. They assist patients to reach their maximum performance and level of functioning while learning to live within the limits of their physical situations. The PTA participates in operational elements of the department, performance improvement (CQI) of the department, infection control activates and requirements, training and organizational safety programs as directed by the Departmental leader.
Computer proficiency is mandatory and prior utilization of an Electronic Medical Record is highly preferred in this role.
Qualifications
EDUCATION & TRAINING:
AA degree from a school or college approved by the American Physical Therapy Association
EXPERIENCE:
Required: Computer proficiency at a high level
Preferred: Outpatient / Acute care Physical Therapist Assistant experience
Preferred: Electronic Medical Record experience
LICENSES & CERTIFICATION:
Current license as Physical Therapist Assistant in the State of Tennessee
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
