Position:
The College of Health Professions invites applications for a tenure-track, 9-month Assistant Professor position in the Department of Speech-Language Pathology & Audiology beginning August 2026. Faculty with expertise in adult medical/acquired neurogenic communication disorders encouraged to apply.

Qualifications:

Applicants should have a doctoral degree in speech-language pathology or a related field. ABD applications will be considered with initial appointment at the Instructor rank; all degree requirements must be completed by February 28, 2027. Candidates should have a commitment to working across programs, disciplines, and cultures to strengthen the field. Candidates with ASHA CCC-SLP certification and current (or eligibility for) Maryland licensure will be prioritized.

Responsibilities:

Primary responsibilities include: (1) Teaching: Research-active instructors teach 6 course units (equivalent to 18 credits) over a 9-month academic year in our student-focused programs, providing high-quality instruction at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and advising and mentoring students as they matriculate through the departments programs and prepare to enter the profession (clinical supervision also included); (2) Scholarship: Development/continuation of a focused area of research that includes peer-reviewed publications, professional presentations, grant funding, and involvement in scholarly projects with students; and (3) Service: Active service participation at the department, college, university, community, and professional levels.

The Department:

The Department of Speech-Language Pathology & Audiology currently has 19 full-time faculty who teach nearly 100 undergraduate students, over 100 masters students in Speech-Language Pathology, and over 60 students in an Audiology clinical doctorate program. The Department values culture, belonging, community, and interdisciplinary engagement. The Department is the academic home to two clinical and outreach centers, the Speech & Language Center and the Hearing & Balance Center; these two centers are part of the Colleges Institute for Well-Being, which is the Universitys premiere interprofessional education and practice center.

Salary and Benefits:

Targeted salary range: $83,000 - $88,000, commensurate with experience.
