Why does the job exist?
Responsible for providing meaningful /therapeutic activities to all nursing home residents of the Long Term Care Division. Residents' desire/ ability to participate, functional and cognitive ability varies. Residents are primarily geriatric however, ages may range from 21-100 years old.
How does it get done?
Conducting group and individual activities with Long Term Care residents on a daily basis by following a daily activity schedule.

Patients/Residents/Clients
Ideal Candidate
Ideal candidate will have:
Experience working with geriatric population and individuals with varying cognitive and physical needs;
Experience creating structured schedules, researching materials to provide quality meaningful activities;
Experience facilitating activities in a group and individual setting;
Experience working with a treatment team in a hospital setting;
Experience with basic computer use.
Minimum Qualification
High School Diploma or equivalent and one (1) year experience as it pertains to the essential duties and responsibilities of the classification. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling one (1) year may substitute for the required experience.

In accordance with all terms and conditions of federal and state law, rules, and regulations in relation to alcohol and/or drug testing. Employment ls subject to nationwide criminal background checks and is conditional pending results.
2. CRIMINAL RECORDS BACKGROUND CHECK-Must successfully complete post offer pre-employment criminal records background check. Employment is conditional pending the results of criminal records background checks. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license. Successful completion of the Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act (HIPAA).
Working Conditions
Position will perform work in both community base setting and in an office setting with computer, phone usage and exposure to Visual /Video Display Terminal. Lifting up to thirty (30) pounds may be required. Effective 01/01/2015, the New Mexico Behavioral Health Institute became a 100% Tobacco Free/E-Cigarette Free Campus. As such, no tobacco, tobacco products or E-Cigarette products are permitted on any part of the campus. Work department is Long Term Care. Shift 8 am to 5 pm.
