Position Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Physical Therapy Aide to join our Athletics Physical Therapy team. The Physical Therapy Aide will support the Athletics Physical Therapist in providing high-quality care to patients undergoing physical rehabilitation. This role involves assisting with patient care, maintaining a clean and organized therapy environment, and performing administrative tasks as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Assistance:
- Assist physical therapists in preparing patients for therapy sessions.
- Help patients with exercises and mobility tasks, ensuring correct form and technique.
- Provide support and encouragement to patients throughout their rehabilitation process.
Facility Maintenance:
- Ensure therapy equipment and facilities are clean, organized, and well-maintained.
- Prepare and set up therapy equipment and supplies for each session.
- Disinfect equipment and treatment areas according to established protocols.
Administrative Duties:
- Schedule patient appointments and manage patient records as needed.
- Answer phone calls and respond to patient inquiries in a professional manner.
- Assist with filing, data entry, and other clerical tasks as needed.
Communication and Teamwork:
- Communicate effectively with patient and healthcare team members.
- Report any patient concerns or changes in condition to the physical therapist and Director of Sports Medicine
- Collaborate with team members to ensure optimal patient care and clinic efficiency.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework in a health-related field is a plus.
- Previous experience in a healthcare or therapy setting is preferred but not required.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with patients and team members.
- Basic knowledge of anatomy, physical therapy techniques, and medical terminology is a plus.
- Proficiency in using office software and equipment.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, and perform physical activities for extended periods.
- Capability to lift and carry up to [weight, e.g., 50 lbs] and assist with patient mobility.
Work Environment:
- This position involves working in a clinical setting with exposure to patients undergoing physical rehabilitation.
- The role requires adherence to safety and infection control procedures.

- Qualifies for Federal Work Study funding for the 2024-2025 academic year.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace.
- Able to manage and maintain sensitive and confidential information, ensuring it is handled securely and in compliance with HIPAA regulations and Pacific Universitys policies and procedures.
- Possesses good oral and written communication skills, and excellent customer service skills including the ability to work with diverse populations of students, staff, faculty, and community members.
