Summary
Respiratory Therapist Location: Levindale Hebrew Geriatric Center and Hospital
Department: Respiratory Care
Reports To: Respiratory Care Manager
Summary:
Provides direct respiratory and pulmonary care to patients in a chronic hospital setting, ensuring compliance with hospital, state, and accreditation standards. Delivers compassionate, high-quality care to improve patient outcomes and promote comfort and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
Administer respiratory care treatments and diagnostic procedures as ordered.
Maintain accurate documentation including care plans, medication records, and patient data.
Troubleshoot and report equipment issues.
Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other staff.
Ensure patient safety and infection control in all care activities.
Support the hospitals Eden Alternative philosophy by promoting patient engagement and well-being.
Participate in on-call and varied shift duties as needed.
Qualifications:
Education: Associates Degree in Respiratory Care (Bachelors preferred)
Experience: 13 years in a clinical respiratory care setting
Licensure & Certifications:
Maryland Respiratory Care Practitioner License
Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) Preferred
Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT)
Basic Life Support (BLS) Required
Skills:
Strong communication and critical thinking skills
Competence in medical equipment and software (EPIC, Cerner, MS Office)
Ability to multitask and work under pressure
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, stand or sit for long periods, and respond quickly to emergencies.
