Department Summary:

Serves as a consultant and educator to interns, externs, and other clinical staff. Participates in research and administrative functions as assigned. This role supports the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered audiology care and contributes to ongoing clinical improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Obtain case history by interviewing the patient, family, and caregivers and reviewing relevant medical records.
- Perform comprehensive audiological evaluations, including behavioral and physiological testing such as auditory brainstem evoked response (ABR), otoacoustic emissions (OAE), speech detection and recognition, auditory perception, and middle ear measures.
- Provide direct patient care and assist other audiologists in evaluations for young or developmentally impaired children.
- Counsel patients and families on test results and recommendations, including information on funding sources and training in the use of hearing technologies.
- Develop case management plans and prepare written reports with recommendations for evaluation, technology selection, and educational strategies.
- Coordinate care and follow-up with interdisciplinary teams, external services, and families for ongoing management and support.
- Support day-to-day clinic operations including schedule coordination, provision of unscheduled care, and maintenance of hearing technology inventory and equipment.
- Participate in clinical research, program development, and continuing education activities.
- Share knowledge gained from professional development to foster growth among team members.
- Implement and analyze quality improvement initiatives and share findings to improve clinical service delivery.
- Train and supervise graduate student externs, clinical fellows, and new team members.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
- Doctoral Degree in Audiology
- One (1) year of clinically supervised experience in Pediatric Audiology
- Minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible and specialized clinical experience
- Current License in Audiology from the Division of Registration, Commonwealth of Massachusetts
- Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC-A) from the American Speech Language Hearing Association, or Board Certification from the American Board of Audiology (required within 6 months of hire)
- Certificate Holder of Audiology Precepting (CH-AP) or equivalent (required within 6 months of hire)
