The incumbent is a staff member of the Physical Medicine and Rehabilition Service of the Ralph H. Johnson VA Health Care System.
The incumbent carries a full pient load; is responsible for maintaining approprie pient record in accordance with Physical Medicine and Rehabilition, VA and JCO policies and standards.
The incumbent independently evalues each pient's functional level, develops and implements trement plan specific to the pient needs, arranges approprie, meaningful clinical and educional experiences for students (as needed), as well as work-study students and volunteers as available. The physical therapist develops the plan of care for the Veteran and supervises the PTA in providing th plan of care. The incumbent may be assigned to any program area within the Ralph H. Johnson VAMC and may rote on a regular basis through the inpient and outpient setting.
Assigned Duties but not limited to :
Responsible for the examinion and trement of Veterans referred to the Physical Therapy Department
Designs, conducts, and evalues educion, experiences within specialty content area for staff members and seeks educional opportunities to enhance the Physical Therapy Department, PM&RS, and the Medical Center.
Represents the Physical Therapy Department and PM&RS various clinical and administrive meetings the discretion of the Supervisory Physical Therapist
Conducts comprehensive Veteran examinions to identify rehabilition problems and establish trement goals.
Develops and implements trement plans designed to meet established goals.
Supervises physical therapy assistant in Veteran's plan of care.
Evalues Veteran response to trement and modifies the trement plan to provide optimum outcome.
Performs ancillary assignments, including program management duties on an occasional basis, where the complexity and amount of work is not substantial.
Work Schedule : Monday - Friday, 8:00AM - 4:30PM. Work schedule subject to change based on agency needs.

Licensure. Individuals hold a full, current, and unrestricted license to practice physical therapy in a Ste, Territory or Commonwealth of the United Stes, or in the District of Columbia.
English Language Proficiency. Individuals appointed under authority of 38 U.S.C. chapters 73 or 74, to serve in a direct pient-care capacity in VHA must be proficient in written and spoken English.
May qualify based on being covered by the Grandfhering Provision as described in the VA Qualificion Standard for this occupion (only applicable to current VHA employees who are in this occupion and meet the criteria).
Grade Determinions : In addition to the above basic requirements, candides must possess one year of experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level, hold a valid unrestricted ste license and demonstre all the KSAs below:
Ability to make autonomous clinical decisions in a Direct Access environment. This includes ability to independently evalue and tre pients who seek physical therapy services.
Skill in performing examinions and evaluions of individuals who have or may develop impairments, activity limitions, and participion restrictions reled to conditions of the musculoskeletal, neuromuscular, cardiovascular, pulmonary, and/or integumentary systems while considering the effects tributable to unique psychosocial and environmental factors.
Ability to interpret findings from examinion and evaluion, select approprie test and measures, and integre findings into the physical therapy plan of care for the full range of pient populions.
Ability to establish a diagnosis within the scope of physical therapy and identify the approprie rehabilition intervention, including referral to another provider for further consultion as clinically indiced.
Ability to determine physical therapy prognosis by incorporing examinion findings with the pient's preferences in order to set clinically approprie trement goals, optimize outcomes and maximize functional independence.
Ability to independently provide clinical oversight of Physical Therapy Assistants as well as students on clinical affiliions who are in Doctoral PT Programs or PTA Programs.
Preferred Experience: :
For the VA Clinic in Myrtle Beach, SC: 1-2 years of outpient physical therapy experience.
