Duties:
- Developing and implementing speech-language objectives aligned with Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks.
- Evaluating, writing reports, and participating in Team meetings.
- Writing IEPs and progress reports within the timelines stated in the regulations.
- Utilizing modifications and accommodations to ensure equity for students.
- Working collaboratively with parents and staff so that children’s educational experiences are positive and carryover of target skills is achieved.
- Collaborating with assistive technology staff regarding communication systems and devices.
- Monitoring FM equipment.
Qualifications
- Certification in Speech-Language Pathology from the Department of Education required.
- ASHA Certification required.
- Speech Therapist must have experience working with school aged children in the areas of language, articulation, hearing, voice disorders and pragmatics.
- Speech Therapist must have knowledge of state and federal regulations, evaluation process, Team meetings, and writing IEPs.
- Speech Therapist must be familiar with specially designed instruction and classroom/instructional accommodations.
- Experience with Autism Spectrum Disorders and assistive technology/augmentative communication preferred.
- The candidate must have excellent communication skills and an ability to work collaboratively with administration, staff, and parents.
Reports to : Special Education Program Manager, Building Principal
Salary : Commensurate with Malden Public Schools’ teacher salary schedule.
