Category Schools - COTA Job Type Contract An opportunity is available for a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) to support students in an elementary school setting in Chicago, IL. This contract position runs from August 25, 2025, to June 5, 2026, with working hours from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The role focuses on providing occupational therapy services to a caseload of Pre-K through 5th-grade students, delivering critical interventions that promote their independence and development. Key responsibilities include: Assisting students in achieving individualized occupational therapy goals. Implementing therapeutic activities under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist. Collaborating with educators, speech therapists, and special education professionals to craft and execute effective treatment plans. Conducting assessments, monitoring student progress, and maintaining detailed records to support Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Creating an inclusive and supportive classroom environment. Offering training and resources to parents and caregivers to encourage therapy continuity outside school. Engaging in ongoing professional development to stay current with occupational therapy best practices. Ideal candidates will have: Current certification as a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA). Preferred experience in school-based or pediatric occupational therapy settings. Strong communication skills to interact effectively with students, families, and professional teams. Adaptability to diverse student needs with a flexible, creative approach. Excellent organizational abilities for managing caseloads and documentation. A deep commitment to the growth and well-being of students with disabilities.
