Central Regional Hospital, a state psychiatric hospital located in Butner, NC seeks Recreational Therapists to provide group treatment activities and interventions for a diverse group of multiple ages and diagnosis of patients with varying cognitive and physical levels. Position will serve as an advisor to a treatment team for the psychosocial treatment program. Position will conduct assessments, write goals and objectives, plan and implement interventions to address patient needs, and complete timely documentation. Additional duties include involvement in departmental coverage, special events, committees, and coordination and supervision of Recreational Therapy students, interns, and volunteers.
This is a full-time position and eligible for the full State benefits package including health insurance and retirement. The normal working hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m to 5:00 p.m., with occasional weekend hours; however, flexibility is required to meet hospital needs. This position is mandatory to the Adverse Weather Policy, which will be discussed in detail during the interview process.
As of January 1, 2025, the new salary range will be $39,864 - $59,797

- Must be currently licensed as a Licensed Recreational Therapist (LRT) by the NCBRTL.
Management Preferences:
- Current certification as a CTRS by the NCTRC.
- Knowledge in developing and implementing active treatment modalities (examples include leisure education, cognitive thought process, adaptive exercise, social skills, problem solving, copings skills, etc).
- Experience with independent planning, organizing, and facilitating group and individual psychosocial interventions.

Licensed to practice recreational therapy by the North Carolina Board of Recreational Therapy Licensure.
