the Opportunity:
SSC is seeking a dynamic Music Therapist that plays a critical role in the ongoing success and growth of the conservatory. The Music Therapist directly manages a caseload of music therapy clients, providing both individual and group music therapy. The caseload is determined based on the availability of the Music Therapist and SSC can be flexible based on availability.
SSC's Creative Arts Therapies uses music therapy, dance therapy, and accessible yoga to enhancewellness among children and adults with a wide range of health and developmental challenges. Servicesare provided in individual and group sessions at SSC's campuses, in client homes, and throughpartnerships with South Shoremunityanizations, including schools, long-term care facilities, group homes, and senior centers.
The ideal candidate is self-directed and passionate about providing quality music therapy services to a variety of clients of all ages and backgrounds. They are a team player and possess an open mind and collaborative spirit.
Responsibilities - Essential Functions and Skills
Plan, design, and implement goal-directed music therapy sessions for groups and individualswith diverse abilities, skills, and needs, in a variety of settings.
Prepare and maintain music therapy session plans, observations, progress reports, attendance, and materials as required.
Communicate with necessary stakeholders to coordinate music therapy services.
Collaborate with the CAT team, Community Engagement department, and others to develop and deliver effective and relevant treatment.
Maintain board certification (MT-BC) through continuing education and professional development.
Participate in individual and group supervision as scheduled.
Ad to the Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice, as set forth by the American Music Therapy Association and the Certification Board for Music Therapy.
Promote and support SSC programs and activities that align with theanization's mission.
Participate in required SSC and departmental meetings and professional development.
Provide additional administrative and managerial support as needed.
Qualifications:
Education, Experience, Qualification Required
Minimum of Bachelor's in Music Therapy; Master's preferred.
Board Certification in Music Therapy (CBMT certification)
Proficiency of clinical musicianship on piano, guitar, and voice.
Ability to improvise using a variety of drums and other rhythm/percussion instruments
Excellent verbal and writtenmunication skills
Strong interpersonal and intrapersonal skills
Ability to work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary team members
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Important Information
The salary range for this position is $65-75k annually. Candidates who took on part-time or hourly caseloads would earn an hourly wage of $45-57 depending on the number of clients.
This job operates in professional environments. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such asputers, phones, photocopiers and filing cabinets. The job will require going out in the field, visiting clients.
This position is mostly sedentary outside of travel. This would require the ability to sit at a desk, frequent walking, bending, or standing as necessary.
We have availability for schedules 5-40 hours a week. This role would be perfect for someone looking to supplement their full-time role.
Travel is required to clients throughout the South Shore.
