Job Summary
The Physical Therapist 2 - Per Diem (PT 2-PD) reports to the Rehab Services Supervisor for Acute Care Physical Therapy. This journey-level position is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating physical therapy interventions in accordance with the goals of the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
PT 2-PDs work across a variety of clinical settings and have demonstrated the ability to operate independently with minimal supervision. They are skilled in managing complex patient cases, exercising sound clinical judgment in treatment planning, documentation, and billing practices. In addition to direct patient care, PT 2-PDs serve as clinical resources, providing guidance and mentorship to entry-level therapists. They also contribute to staff orientation and participate in ongoing training and development efforts within the department.

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required for the position
California Licensed Physical Therapist possess and maintain a current California Physical Therapy License
American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR Certification OR a UC Davis Health CPR certification
Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy program with a Bachelor's degree or higher from a U.S. institution, or completion of all requirements for foreign-trained Physical Therapists eligible to practice in the United States
2 years of clinical experience in the field of Physical Therapy
Must supply all appropriate information to maintain Hospital credentialing in a timely manner
Skills to provide physical therapy assessments and interventions in Acute Care, ICUs and Inpatient Rehabilitation
Thorough working knowledge of, and skill to , practices, principles and techniques of patient care related to area of expertise
Ability to communicate ideas and relate well with staff and patients in order to work as a team member
Willingness to assist other staff members with their caseloads
Ability to establish and maintain good rapport with patients and their families
Ability to train family in follow-through for home therapy programs; home visiting as necessary
Ability to communicate clearly on a professional basis with hospital staff in a clear, concise, professional manner
Knowledge of requirements in processing for third-party payors
Ability to write progress notes, discharge plans, and other written reports as requested
Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate scheduling of patients in assigned areas of responsibility
Ability to be flexible and cooperative
Ability to verbally communicate pertinent information and knowledge of the profession for training and educating other hospital service personnel
Skill in organizing written material
Knowledge of appropriate information required for patient and supply record keeping
Basic computer and technology skills
Skill and ability to work in stressful situations
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated experience working in an Acute Care Physical Therapy setting
Demonstrated experience in documentation via Electronic Medical Record
Key Responsibilities

Work Environment
UC Davis is a smoke and tobacco free campus effective January 1, 2014. Minimum of 8 shifts per month
Two (2) weekend shifts are required per 4-week scheduling period

Must be able to perform all responsibilities of a licensed Physical Therapist as required and assigned by PM&R (Physical Medicine and Rehab) Leadership
Must see well enough to observe patient reactions and read relevant monitors, relevant device settings, and relevant written information such as the patient medical record
Must hear and speak well enough to communicate with patients and staff throughout the day
Must possess the physical strength to assist with patient mobility
Must possess sufficient mobility to traverse the distances required to serve patients throughout the institution
Must be able to work weekends and holidays as determined by the department
Must be able to work in the Acute Care and Inpatient Rehabilitation settings, or any other UCDH site as needed
