A Massage Therapist provides customized massage therapy intervention within a clinical care plan model supporting patients throughout their disease process, promoting comfort and coping as well as optimizing overall function and quality of life.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities for a Massage Therapist:

Provides skilled massage therapy services to patients and families in accordance with the policies and procedures of Hospice & Palliative Care Buffalo.

Participates in IDG collaboration

Treats patients to relieve pain, develop and restore function and maintain optimal well-being and quality of life through the application of specific and individualized intervention.

Assess for support needs and develop an individualized patient plan of care, reflecting changes in status.

Attend to ongoing evaluation, teaching, and collaboration with patient, family/caregivers, and members of the IDG.

Demonstrates awareness of cultural and ethnic diversity in end- of- life care

Adheres to requirements of HPCB policies and procedures that are both patient focused (clinical) and organizational focused (administrative).

Adheres to HIPAA regulations, policies and standards of confidentiality.

Qualifications for a Massage Therapist:

Education / Certification

Graduate of an accredited Massage Therapy program with current licensure in the State of New York.

Valid Driver's License, free of serious violations, and vehicle required for use when scheduled to work.

Experience

3 years working as a massage therapist.

Experience with medical fragile and/or terminally ill preferred.
