## Description The Director of Clinical Education (DCE) is responsible for overseeing *all clinical aspects* of the Associate of Applied Science (AAS) Respiratory Therapy Program, including the organization, administration, continuous review, and revision of clinical experiences. The DCE ensures that the clinical curriculum aligns with current standards and provides high-quality learning opportunities for students. Additionally, the DCE will plan and develop clinical locations with appropriate supervision, ensuring students' evolving practice skills are effectively addressed.The Director of Clinical Education will also contribute to the development of curriculum and teaching for didactic and lab respiratory care courses. This includes working collaboratively with faculty and program leadership to design and implement instructional content that complements clinical training. The DCE will engage in both educational and administrative responsibilities, working closely with the Program Director, clinical affiliates, faculty, and College leadership to ensure the success of both the clinical and didactic aspects of the program.## QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:- Baccalaureate degree from an academic institution accredited by a regional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (USDE). The degree earned can be in any field of study. - Must hold a valid NBRC RRT credential and current state license. The DCE, upon hire, will need to obtain a license for Utah- Four (4) years of clinical experience as a practicing respiratory therapist - Two (2) years of experience teaching in an accredited respiratory care program either as an appointed faculty member or as a clinical preceptor- Strong understanding of clinical education, respiratory care practices, and medical standards. - Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills. - Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and clinical sites. Preferred Qualifications:- Master's degree in respiratory therapy or related field ## Major Responsibilities/Duties- Oversee and manage the clinical education component of the Respiratory Therapy Program- Develop and maintain relationships with clinical affiliates- Coordinate and schedule clinical placements- Monitor student progress during clinical rotations, providing feedback and guidance as necessary- Work with faculty to ensure the clinical curriculum aligns with didactic coursework and prepares students for real-world clinical practice- Ensure that clinical instructors and preceptors are trained, supported, and meet the program's standards- Evaluate student performance in lab and clinical settings, providing assessments and documentation for program records- Teach respiratory therapy didactic and lab courses as assigned- Participate in curriculum development and updates, ensuring clinical components are aligned with current best practices- Ensure compliance with accreditation standards, regulatory requirements, and institutional policies- Attend program meetings, advisory board meetings, and participate in program assessments for continuous improvement- Serve as the primary point of contact for clinical affiliates- Organize and lead clinical orientation sessions for students and clinical instructors.- Provide mentorship and guidance to students throughout their clinical rotations.- Maintain records of student clinical progress, including evaluations, competency checklists, and assessments.- Collaborate with faculty and clinical instructors to resolve any issues related to clinical ro tations or student performance.- Participate in ongoing professional development to stay updated on trends in respiratory care and clinical education.- Perform additional department assignments as required.- Participate in college committee assignments.- Recruit and a vise students.- Participate in faculty development activities.- Hold regular office hours.## Additional InformationAdditional Information:- This is a tenure track position.- Salary is based on highest degree earned and years of experience. - Excellent benefits package.
