Job Description
Desert Hand and Physical Therapy has an immediate opportunity for a full-time Bilingual Patient Care Coordinator/Physical Therapy tech to join our fun and talented team. As a Patient Care Coordinator/Physical Therapy tech, you will work directly with the clinic manager and providers to coordinate and organize patient EMR charts, scheduling and managing the front desk. As the coordinator, greeting patients and assisting with their questions is required to build trust and loyalty with them and our community. When you join Desert Hand and PT, you'll participate in a One-on-One training program to succeed in your role.
Job Duties:
- Kind and compassionate patient and employee service.

- Following strict HIPAA laws
- Maintaining patient schedules
- Follow laws for scheduling appointments based on insurance.
- Prepping of the patient schedules to verify patient is eligible to be seen (ex; visit counts, authorizations, eligibility)
- Collect and balance daily patient copayments; Upload financial information into the Portal and other necessary EMR spaces for compliance of patient financials.
- Answering multiline phone system.
- Communicating with your team needs via instant messages.
- Verify new patient insurance eligibility; obtaining and managing authorization visits for physical/occupational therapy & splints, and explaining coverage/benefits to patients
- Time Management: Minor reports
- Clear understanding of the services provided and have ability to explain to callers how we can assist
- Manage petty cash flow of the clinic.
- Manage clinic schedule for all therapists
- Order office supplies
- Additional tasks as assigned by the Manager
As a physical therapy tech you will:
- Kind and compassionate patient and employee service.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures, government regulations, safety and infection control protocols
- Following strict HIPPA laws
- Assist patients with exercises under the supervision of a licensed therapist.
- Set up and clean treatment areas before and after therapy sessions.
- Prepare therapy equipment and assist with the application of modalities per OT/PT state practice guidelines
- Escort patients to and from therapy areas needed adhering to patient safety concerns .
- Monitor and document report patient responses to treating therapist during therapy sessions
- Maintain inventory of therapy supplies and report low stock levels
- Perform administrative tasks such as data entry, answering phones, scheduling, patient check-in and check-out responsibilities.
- Additional tasks as assigned by the Manager
Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Must be bilingual in Spanish
- Must be willing to travel the Arcadia and the East Valley
- Excellent telephone skills
- Proficient in Word and Excel
- Preferred experience with Medical Manager, Medisoft, or other medical software
- Team player attitude, energetic, with a focus on excellent customer service
- Flexibility with hours

- Time management skills
- Organization and ability to multi-task
