School Speech Pathologist

  • Possesses knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, regulation, and policies regarding children’s special education eligibility and programming.
  • Selects and administers age-appropriate assessment methods and materials in order to determine the needs of the student.
  • Interprets assessment results and compiles comprehensive speech assessment reports that address the reason for referral and include appropriate recommendations.
  • Participates in eligibility committee meetings and contributes to the development of the Individualized Education Plan (IEP).
  • Participates in other pertinent meetings at various schools assigned, as needed.
  • Serve as a resource to teachers and staff regarding speech services and the academic/speech needs of students.
  • Work with parents, teachers, and administrators to develop strategies to address learning difficulties.
  • Prepare timely reports to maintain timelines for paperwork completion and conferences.
  • Keeps abreast of developments and research in the field of speech pathology and shares with colleagues.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must hold a valid certificate and necessary credentials for a State approved Speech Pathologist.
  • Must display excellent communication skills.
  • Have knowledge of current research, changes, and trends in Speech Pathology
  • Must display excellent people skills.
