RECREATION AIDES (RAides)

10 Positions

Position Overview:

Recreation Aides (RAides) are responsible for providing prompt, efficient, and courteous guest services. RAides are part-time, at-will employees who may pick up shifts at various City of L.A. RAP locations, with a maximum of 1,040 hours per year.

Note: The current salary range is subject to change. Please confirm the starting salary with the hiring department before accepting a job offer.

Available Hours (Spring & Summer Session 2025):

Hours: 0-10 hours per week

Hours are not guaranteed and are based on enrollment, budget, and operational needs.

Must be available at least 2 consistent days per week during the session (Monday-Friday).

Job Description:

Recreation Aides assist the Recreation Assistants and the Director before, during, and after recreational activities at the center. This may include after school, sports, classes, camps, or special events at the Recreation Center. RAides will promote the Robertson Recreation Center and its mission while maintaining a professional, friendly, and collaborative rapport with participants, parents/guardians, staff, the Director, nearby schools, and other agencies.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Prepare the facility (indoor & outdoor) for activities, including daily setup, teardown, and cleaning/sanitizing equipment, inventory, and organization (e.g., canopies, tables, water coolers, games, uniforms, etc.)

Perform general office duties such as answering phones, scanning, photocopying, and filing.

Assist with serving snacks and lunch.

Adhere to all Department Policies & Procedures, and be punctual, reliable, and capable of following directions.

Qualifications:

Must be at least 15-17 years old to apply, with a valid work permit.

Punctual, reliable, and display a strong work ethic, with the ability to follow directions.

Sports/fitness knowledge in areas like basketball, cheer, dance, volleyball, soccer, tennis, martial arts, and paddle sports is encouraged.

Additional knowledge in areas like music, singing, performing arts, creative writing, or tutoring is welcome.

General computer skills (Microsoft Office, Google Suite, internet navigation).

Excellent customer service skills with staff, participants, and the public (training available).

Ability to lead by example, be adaptable to feedback, and maintain a positive, enthusiastic demeanor.

Ability to remain active for extended periods, in diverse weather conditions.
