JOB SUMMARY

The Occupational Therapist (OT) administers Occupational Therapy Services to patients according to the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) and the Wyoming State Board of Occupational Therapy Standards of Practice. The OT is responsible for evaluating assigned patients and establishing, implementing and overseeing appropriate plans of care for these individuals in order to restore and maximize their function and quality of life.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Practice in a safe manner that minimizes risk to patients, self and others.
  • Perform patient evaluations and develop appropriate plans of care according to applicable laws and regulatory requirements.
  • Establish with the patient appropriate and realistic short and long term functional goals.
  • Administer effective and appropriate treatment interventions that are individualized and adjusted to the needs of each patient for the purpose of meeting their functional goals.
  • Select and use appropriate, accepted, standardized tests and outcome measures to assess the results of interventions administered.
  • Communicate effectively and on a regular basis with patients, caregivers and fellow healthcare team members to promote optimal healthcare delivery and progress toward the patient’s functional goals.
  • Complete documentation related to occupational therapy practice in an appropriate, legible and timely manner that is consistent with all applicable laws and regulatory requirements.
  • Supervise assistive personnel and students in a manner that assures safe and efficient care.
  • Attend meetings and serve on committees as assigned.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education/Experience/Licenses & Certifications

    • Bachelors Degree in Occupational Therapy, required.
    • BLS certification, required.
    • Ability to grasp new concepts, learn quickly, and adapt to changes quickly.
    • Ability to establish priorities and problem-solve alone and with others.
    • Knowledge of up-to-date approaches and techniques.

    Specific demands not listed: Possible exposure to blood and or body fluids / infectious disease / hazardous waste requiring the use of Personal Protective Equipment. Exposure to odorous chemicals / specimens and Latex products.

    Pre-employment drug and alcohol screening is required.
