CLINICIAN IIGENERAL STATEMENT OF JOBUnder general supervision, employee is responsible for providing direct therapeutic services, case management services, and crisis intervention to mental health, substance abuse, and intellectually disabled clients. Therapeutic services involve conducting individual, marital, group, and family therapy sessions. Case management services include client identification, assessments, and pre-screenings, consultative services regarding community resources, crisis intervention, as well as liaison activities with staff of local hospital emergency rooms, jails, schools, and social service agencies. Employee consults regularly with other staff members; participates in scheduled meetings, seminars, and in-service training sessions. Employee must also exercise tact and courtesy in contact with staff, clients, families, public, and service providers. Reports to the MHOP Clinician III.SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSDelivers direct service to mental health, substance abuse, and intellectually disabled clients through individual, marital, family, and group therapy.Connects clients to available community resources as needed to meet the needs of clients; provides information regarding employment opportunities, self-help needs, living alternatives, and educational and entitlement opportunities to clients; participates in hospital discharge planning for clients returning to the area.Maintains complete, accurate, and current clinical charts and records; prepares various reports and evaluations as requested by supervisor and other agencies; performs routine office filing; receives and answers general correspondence and inquiries.Provides crisis intervention and pre-screenings on an on-call basis as assigned by the Emergency Services Coordinator.Staffs/operates satellite clinics as assigned.Offers consultative services regarding mental health, substance abuse, and intellectual disability issues to referrals and the general public.Consults regularly with other staff members; participates in scheduled staffing and case conferences; attends in-service training sessions within and outside of the Agency.Supervises students and volunteers as assigned by the Regional Coordinator.ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONSProvides training workshops and informational presentations to local agencies and groups.Participates on committees and groups in community planning activities and programs as assigned.Assists in the development of clinical programs.Performs other related work as required.MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCEMaster's Degree in Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, or related field, and a minimum of 2 years experience in counseling, clinical assessment, and case management.SPECIAL REQUIREMENTSMust possess a valid Virginia Driver's License. Must obtain a TB test with satisfactory results within 30 days of employment, and yearly thereafter as required by licensing authority.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OR STANDARDS REQUIREDTO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSPhysical Requirements:Must be physically able to operate a variety of automated office machines which includes computers, calculators, copiers, VCR, telephones, televisions, etc. Must be able to operate a motor vehicle. Must be able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but active work may involve walking or standing for periods of time.Data Conception:Requires the ability to compare and/or judge the readily observable, functional, structural, or compositional characteristics (whether similar to or divergent from obvious standards) of data, people, or things.Interpersonal Communications:Requires the ability of speaking and/or signaling people to convey or exchange information.
