Overview
The Elizabeth Hospice Massage Therapist provides treatment to clients by using their hands to manipulate muscles and other soft tissues of the body. Through touch and pressure, the massage therapist works to improve the client's overall wellness by relieving pain, soothing injuries, increasing relaxation, and improving circulation. Prior to massage, the therapist guides the client through the service offering and helps the client choose the right treatments. Evaluates patient goals and develops a treatment plan of massage therapy interventions to fit the needs, abilities, and medical history of pediatric patients. Provides treatments under the direction of the hospice physician and the hospice interdisciplinary team.
The Elizabeth Hospice is San Diego's oldest non-profit hospice of 45 years. We are growing and looking for talented individuals to join our high performing team and support our mission. We serve all of San Diego county and south Riverside county with multiple hospice office locations.
Our Mission: To enhance the quality of life for those nearing the end of life's journey and for those who grieve.
Work hours: Candidate must provide at least 6 shifts of availability per month.
Salary: $36.00 - $45.00 hourly subject to experience and qualifications
Location: San Diego County
Degree Of Travel: Travel required for patient visits. Occasional travel for educational purposes
Responsibilities
Provides massage therapy that is individualized, goal directed and consistent with current standards of practice as well as hospice philosophy focusing on needs of patient and family.
Focuses on pain relief, relaxation, stress reduction, and energy conservation.
Knowledgeable about and supportive of hospice philosophy.
Collaborates with members of the Hospice Team in planning physical treatments identified in the plan of care.
Involving the patient and family, plans and implements appropriate interventions related to identified patient/family needs.
Provides education and information that facilitates self-care, health maintenance and wellness and/or death with dignity.
Identifies and assesses the patient and communicates patient and family needs to the interdisciplinary team.
Provides massage therapy in the home of the patient, care facility, adult foster home, and other patient locations as required.
Demonstrates sound knowledge and skill base, which is utilized in the provision of care.
Documents visit notes in electronic medical record (EMR) system.
Must relate to patient and families in an open, empathetic, and supportive manner while maintaining personal and professional boundaries.
Must be able to establish and maintain rapport with community agencies and resources.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Education: Associate degree preferred.
Minimum Experience: Massage Therapy, two years required.
Required License: Certified Massage Therapist required.
Ability to lift/push/pull minimum of 30 lbs.
Prolonged, extensive, or considerable standing/walking/sitting.
Manual dexterity and mobility.
Visual and auditory acuity.
Current CPR certification and negative TB skin test.
Current driver's license and proof of auto insurance policy required.
