PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Speech-Language Pathology Assistant may perform the following tasks under the supervision of the licensed Speech-Language Pathologist and is responsible for:
- Assisting with speech-language screenings.
- Assisting with informal documentation as directed by the supervisor.
- Observes the student in the inclusive classroom, as necessary.
- Following documented treatment plans of protocols developed by the supervisor.
- Provide direct speech-language services for students on IEPs and 504 in both small group and individual settings.
- Documenting student performance (e.g., tallying data for the Speech-LanguagePathologist to use, preparing charts, records, and graphs) and reporting the information to the supervisor.
- Preparing quarterly progress notes of student progress towards IEP goals to be reviewed by the supervisor and held in student records.
- Assisting the Speech-Language Pathologist during the assessment of students.
- Assisting with clerical duties such as preparing materials and scheduling activities as directed by the supervisor.
- Performing checks and maintenance of equipment.
- Collecting data for monitoring quality improvement.
- Other job-related duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:This position may require long periods of standing and lifting for long periods of time. The Individual may be exposed to ultraviolet lights found in computer monitors and copying equipment.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: This is a part-time position, not to exceed 19 hours per week. It is a school year, ten (10) months, a 183-day position.
SALARY:$35 per hour, not to exceed 19 hours per week.
EVALUATION:Performance of this job will be in accordance with the School Committee Policy. QUALIFICATIONS:
- Speech-Language Pathology Assistant License Issued by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Division of Professional Licensure, Board of Speech-Language Pathology.
- Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with Speech-Language Pathologists, teachers, and other school personnel.
- Must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated experience supporting students with disabilities.
- Experience with assistive technology.
