Speech Language Pathologist

The Pawtucket School Department is seeking a dynamic and knowledgeable Speech Pathologist to screen, evaluate and provide appropriate services to students with communication disorders (articulation, voice, language, fluency) that affect educational performance. Also included in the responsibilities is consultation with teachers and parents and participation in Individual Education Plan team meetings.
EXEMPLARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Implementation and development of Student’s Individual Education Plans within IDEA guidelines.
•Development of measurable IEP goals and objectives based on assessment data.
•Screening, evaluation and diagnosis of Communication Disorders that impact educational performance.
•Participate as a member on the Evaluation, IEP and RTI/MTSS teams.
•Maintaining complete and accurate longitudinal records for all students.
•Development of clinical reports that are clear and objective.
•Participate in professional development, discipline meetings and school- based activities.
•Accurate completion of all Medicaid required data and documentation
•Participation in State Assessment data collection requirements (TSG)
IS KNOWLEDGEABLE OF:
•Current approaches, methodology and research in the field to foster professional growth
•Use and administration of a variety of Assessment tools (PPVT, TOLD, CELF…)
•IDEA/ADA regulations and the impact on Speech and Language services.
•Use and development of Augmentative communication systems and devises.
SKILLED AT:
•Communicating effectively both orally and in writing.
•Ability to screen, evaluate, diagnose, and remediate communication disorders of students three to twenty-one years of age.
•Ability to develop and implement appropriate goals and objectives for each individual student and to select and utilize therapeutic materials effectively with individuals and small groups of students.
•Working cooperatively with families, teachers and professionals in related disciplines.
•Demonstrate proficiency with use of computer based data systems, email , Office applications and educational/therapeutic apps.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATE:
•RIDE certification as a Speech and Language Pathologist
•Certificate of Clinical Competence from ASHA
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
•Master’s degree in the area of Speech-Language Pathology is required
•At least (1) year of experience in a school setting.
•Experience with diversity preferred.
COMPENSATION/BENEFITS:
•Full PSD benefits package.
•Salary will be determined by the appropriate placement on the District’s teacher’s salary schedule.
