College of AppliedHealth Sciences TheUniversity of Illinois Department of Speech and Hearing Science (SHS) ( invites applications for a full-time, 9-month, non-tenuretrack position as a Teaching Assistant Professor, with opportunity foradvancement. Individuals with demonstrated interests in adult neurogeniccommunication disorders, and experience teaching undergraduate and graduatestudents with a variety of learning styles and from varied backgrounds, inperson and online, are encouraged to apply. The proposed start date is August 16,2025.
Responsibilities
The candidate will provide didactic instruction to undergraduatestudents in foundational courses in communication sciences and disorders (e.g.,anatomy and physiology of speech and language) and to graduate students inadult neurogenic communication disorders (e.g., aphasia, motor speech disorders).The candidate will also assume responsibilities as program director for theclinical MA program in speech-language pathology and contribute to departmentaland college service.
Qualifications
Applicantsmust hold a doctorate in communication sciences and disorders or a relatedfield and clinical certification in speech-language pathology (CCC-SLP) fromthe American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
Applicants must have aminimum of 2 years of full-time experience teachingundergraduate and graduate courses in communication sciences and disorders, includingdemonstrated evidence of excellence in course instruction.
Preferredqualifications include previous clinical work experience, experience supervisinggraduate students in speech-language pathology, and active Illinois statelicense for professional SLP practice.

Speech and Hearing Science is a highly collegial andcollaborative department, situated in the College of Applied Health Sciences onthe main campus of the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign and includes(a) the recently renovated Speech and Hearing Science Building that housesacademic, research, and collaborative spaces; (b) the Audiology &Speech-Language Pathology Clinic; and (c) the Collaboration Lab that housesclinical faculty offices, a classroom, multiple study spaces for clinicalgraduate students, and private spaces for telepractice. This is a 100% full-time Academic position, appointed on a 9-monthbasis. The expected start date is 8/16/2025. The salary range for this positionis $72,000 $78,000. Final salary offered will be determined by a thoroughassessment of available market data, internal salary equity, candidateexperience and qualifications, collective bargaining agreements, and budgetconstraints.
