Deaf and Hard of Hearing Specialist Modesto, California

A dedicated educator is sought to support elementary students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in a classroom setting. This position offers a contract-based opportunity Monday through Friday, providing vital instructional and developmental support tailored to meet each childs unique communication and learning needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement individualized lesson plans accommodating Deaf and Hard of Hearing students.
• Utilize appropriate communication methods including sign language, lip reading, and assistive technologies.
• Collaborate with general education teachers, speech therapists, and support staff to enhance learning outcomes.
• Monitor and assess student progress, adapting instructional strategies as needed.
• Maintain documentation and comply with legal and educational requirements for special education services.
• Foster an inclusive, supportive classroom environment promoting students academic and social growth.

Desired Qualifications:

• Valid teaching credential with authorization to serve Deaf and Hard of Hearing students.
• Experience working with elementary-aged students in special education settings.
• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) is highly preferred.
• Strong understanding of the educational and social-emotional needs of Deaf and Hard of Hearing children.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
