Position Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate, creative, and experienced Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) to join our team on a part-time basis. This role involves providing therapeutic recreation services designed to enhance physical, emotional, cognitive, and social well-being for individuals with brain injuries and other neurological conditions.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with neurorehabilitation populations and be passionate about using recreation as a meaningful tool for recovery and quality of life improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, implement, and evaluate individualized and group therapeutic recreation interventions tailored to clients with brain injuries and neurological conditions.
- Conduct assessments to determine clients leisure interests, functional abilities, and therapeutic needs.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, including case managers, therapists, and family members, to develop and support person-centered care plans.
- Document client participation, progress, and outcomes according to organizational and regulatory standards.
- Provide education and support to clients and families on leisure skills, adaptive activities, and community resources.
- Facilitate community outings, adaptive sports, arts and crafts, music therapy sessions, cognitive stimulation activities, and social events.
- Maintain a safe, supportive, and engaging therapeutic environment.
- Part-time position (hours flexible, based on client and program needs; may include daytime, occasional evening, or weekend sessions)
Qualifications:
- Current certification as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) by the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC) required.
- Bachelors degree in Therapeutic Recreation or related field.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working with individuals with brain injuries or neurological conditions preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team.
- Valid drivers license and reliable transportation preferred (for community-based sessions).
Schedule:
Salary Description $55.00/hour
