The Director of Clinical Education (DCE) will be responsible for curriculum, instruction, and will be an integral pat of the student educational experience. The Director will provide engaged instruction; develop curricula; conduct program; course and student outcomes assessment; and advise and support students. The director will engage in the professional work to advance the College's mission by participating in institutional advancement and professional development. The DCE plans and coordinates the clinical education for the Respiratory Therapy program.

  • ORGANIZATION & ADMINISTRATION: The DCE must be responsible for all aspects of the clinical experiences of students enrolled in the program, including organization, administration, continuous review and revision, planning for and development of clinical affiliates. The DCE is also responsible for mentoring the clinical instructors and preceptors. Visits to the clinical affiliates are required and the responsibility to ensure sound clinical educational experience is essential.
  • PROVIDE INSTRUCTION: The DCE serves as a liaison between the academic institution and the affiliating clinical facilities; oversees the preparation, assignment, and vets and recommends for hire the clinical instructors who will supervise the students while on clinical rotations; recruits and develops clinical affiliation sites as needed; encourages and assists clinical sites and clinical faculty development; participates in regional, state and national clinical education activities and programs; coordinates all clinical education courses and serves as a member of the Department Curriculum Committee; functions as a faculty member and participates in faculty meetings and demonstrates student centered orientation. Additionally, this position requires the teaching of Respiratory Therapy Courses related to clinical practice while creating an engaging educational classroom environment.
  • DEVELOP CURRICULM, CONDUCT ASSESSEMENT, DEMONSTRATE PROFESSIONALISM The DCE will network with the community and industry partners to build a strong advisory board; gather feedback from clinical instructors, affiliates and students to assess learning outcomes. The DCE will help the Program director with annual program assessment and comprehensive program reviews; gather and analyze data including student outcomes, enrollment, retention, and complete data to support continuous improvement. The DCE will demonstrate professionalism in accordance with the College's values; maintain positive working relationships, make decisions and solve problems; maintain confidentiality, open communication, accurate records and maintain current skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy from an approved Respiratory therapy education program. Master's degree from an accredited institution is preferred.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist with at least 2 years in clinical respiratory care.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience teaching in an accredited respiratory therapy program either as an appointed faculty member or as a clinical preceptor.
  • Licensed Registered Respiratory Therapist in the states of Ohio and West Virginia
  • Ability to meet faculty requirements stated in the criteria for the Accreditation of Respiratory therapy Programs. (CoARC)
  • Evidence of professional development and current knowledge in the practice of Cardiopulmonary Diagnostics and Respiratory Therapy procedures.
