Our services include a state-of-the-art psychiatric urgent care center and a soon-to-be-built pediatric behavioral health center, outpatient, inpatient, partial hospitalization (day programs), assessment and testing, residential, addiction treatment and specialty services such as crisis response, employee assistance programs, forensic psychiatry and psychology, and neuromodulation. On-the-job educational programs for nurses, psychologists, advanced practice providers, psychiatrists, and chaplains are equipping the next generation of care providers. The Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Services Activity Therapy Department is seeking professional candidates in Recreational Therapy to complete a 15-week and full-time clinical internship in mental and behavioral health under the direct supervision of a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist. The Recreation Therapy intern will progressively work towards independence, with the direct support of a supervisor, in the areas of: clinical assessment completion, group preparation, program development, group implementation, documentation, and treatment team participation. Candidates must be currently enrolled in an accredited Recreational Therapy program. Skills highly sought after include leadership, flexibility, willingness to learn, ability to work in an interdisciplinary team, effective communication, emotional intelligence, knowledge and ability to plan and implement psychoeducational programming in group settings.
